The stiff, straight stem produces pinnately compound, toothed, dark green leaves on the obverse side, grey-felted on the reverse side, with a small number of glands. The lower leaves grow in a ground rosette. The small, yellow flowers are five-numerous, arranged in clustered racemes. It is mown 10 \u2013 15 cm above the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Drying:<\/strong>&nbsp;Drying takes place naturally in the shade, in thin layers. The twigs are often subject to steaming. The temperature of artificial drying should not exceed 35 \u00b0C.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Active substances:<\/strong>&nbsp;The plant is dominated by catechin tannins, which may account for up to 10 % of the dried drug. Flavonoids, triterpenes and traces of essential oils are also important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uses:<\/strong>&nbsp;Burdock has mild astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. It is used for mild forms of diarrhoea, for gargling and gargling in inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and nasopharynx.
