English name:<\/strong> Lady\u2019s mantel<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Botanical characteristic:<\/strong> A perennial herb that grows to a height of 10 – 50 cm, yellow-green in colour. Round, 7 \u2013 9 lobed leaves, covered with trichomes, grow from long petioles. Their margins are toothed. The upper leaves are on a short petiole, hairy and arranged in whorls. The small, greenish-yellow flowers are grouped in inflorescences. The fruit is an achenes enclosed in a cap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distribution:<\/strong> It grows by streams and rivers, in slightly damp meadows, in moist light forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drug:<\/strong> Alchemillae herba, Alchemillae folium<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harvesting method:<\/strong> Leaves and fennel are harvested from May to August. The method of harvesting is carried out by hand, or with the help of gardening shears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drying:<\/strong> Dry the sage and leaves naturally in the shade, in thin layers, in a ventilated room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active substances:<\/strong> Lady\u2019s mantel is classified as a tannic drug, with the hydrolysable type of tannins predominating. These substances may account for up to 8 % of the dry weight of the drug. Another therapeutically important group of metabolites are flavonoids, to which anti-inflammatory effects are attributed. In Lady\u2019s mantel are found gentian, minute amounts of salicylic acid, traces of essential oils and simple organic acids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uses:<\/strong> The plant is known in folk medicine as a remedy for the treatment of „female ailments“. It is used for painful menstruation, but also for problems related to menopause. The decoction is used for mild diarrhea, improves the healing of purulent wounds and has a mild spasmolytic effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditional method of use in indications determined solely on the basis of long-term use:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– supportive treatment of non-specific diarrhea,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal complaints,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– supportive treatment of painful menstruation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
