In Europe it is cultivated as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Drug:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Echinaceae purpureae herba<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Harvesting method:<\/strong>&nbsp;Stalk with leaves are collected in full bloom by hand or with garden shears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Drying:<\/strong>&nbsp;We dry the stalk with leaf in a thin layer in the shade, in a ventilated room. Artificially in a drying oven at a temperature of up to 40 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Active substances:<\/strong>&nbsp;Echinacea purple is rich in heteropolysaccharides, especially arabinogalactans. It also contains derivatives of caffeic acid such as echinacoside and chicanic acid. The plant contains isobutylamides of unsaturated fatty acids, to which echinacein belongs. Metabolites can also include essential oils, polyphenols and flavonoids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uses<\/strong>: The juice, as well as extracts from echinacea purple, support the body&#8217;s defenses and have a preventive effect on infections of the respiratory tract and ureters. It is often used to treat colds.
