Botanical characteristic:<\/strong> Perennial semi-shrub, 20 \u2013 60 cm high, has a square stem. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate, entire-edged, white felt. The leaves are ovate, veined. The inflorescence is arranged in racemes and forms a cylindrical panicle on long stalks. The crown is blue, double-lipped, the calyx is bell-shaped, glandular dotted. The fruit is a shiny hard shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distribution:<\/strong> It originates from the Mediterranean. It is grown in gardens, parks, on cultivation areas. It requires sunny habitats and calcareous soils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drug:<\/strong>\u00a0Lavandulae flos<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harvesting method:<\/strong> Lavender flowers are collected in dry weather, at the beginning of flowering, by hand or with gardening shears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drying:<\/strong> The flowers are dried naturally in thin layers in an airy and shady place. Artificially in a drying room, where the temperature must not exceed 40 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active substances:<\/strong> Essential oils based on linalool, linalyl acetate and geraniol are responsible for the characteristic scent of lavender flowers. The blue-violet color of the flowers is caused by anthocyanin dyes. The plant contains tannins, bitters, and among the organic acids, we can mention rosmarinic acid, which is widespread in all plants from the lamiacaeae family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uses:<\/strong> Common lavender has been known for centuries for its calming effects. It is used for restlessness, nervous exhaustion, sleep disorders and migraine. Extracts from this plant increase the secretion of bile and support the digestion of fatty foods in particular. It also repels moths and some types of insects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditional method of use in indications determined solely on the basis of long-term use:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– alleviation of symptoms of psychological stress and exhaustion,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– sleep support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
